Realistic Registry Picks For Baby | What You Can Actually Use That's Affordable

Now that I am well into my second trimester, I've been up to my eyeballs in reviews of  all kinds of baby products. I had no idea how big the baby industry was and I was in way over my head with just how many baby items were on the market for just about ANYTHING you can think of. One place I can always count on to have exactly what I'm looking for is Target; no surprise there! I made my registry through them and the process of adding things (and exactly how much you want of it) is really easy. I love how they offer a "universal add" feature where it allows you to add the items you're interested in from different websites with ease. During my product hunt, I've compiled a list of about 95 items in total that will assist my little man from his beginning newborn stage all the way through to his first year. Of course, affordability is the name of the game for me and in this blog post I'm going to share some of my favorite registry picks that are in my opinion necessary for a new baby as well as being cost effective. I'll have all the items I mentioned linked for you if you would like to add any of these items to your own registry as well.

1. Playtex Baby Diaper Genie Complete- I picked up this bad boy not too long ago for $34.99 and it was so simple to put together all by myself. The kit came with the genie, a starter bag cartridge and very handy set of instructions. I'm not sure how this stands up against the original diaper genie, but the "complete" model comes with a really cool odor lock technology feature, a foot petal for opening and a easy to empty bin. This specific diaper pail is also the tallest model in the "diaper genie" family which is something I personally LOVE since it will make my life as a new mom a little less complicated.

2. Homemedics Sound Spa- In every video I've watched on youtube or blog post I've seen online there was not one mom who said a sound machine was not a necessity. Taking a cue from the mamas before me I knew I wanted to add this popular pick to my list. A sound machine can be helpful in your babies bedtime routine with mimicking the "white noise" your infant hears in the womb aiding in a better sleep experience for the both of you. Some sound machines can be really pricey ranging anywhere from $20- $50 with various features and modes depending on what you and baby may like. I decided to go with the homemedics sound spa for $19.99 at Target for a few reasons; I liked the color design- grey and white is always a good color combo to me! I also appreciate the simplicity of the product- it has what I need without anything extra. Not to mention that it had great online reviews! It's compact and easy to store along with the host of other baby items I have going on already so it's not going to be bulky and in the way.

3. Muslin Swaddles- Swaddles are for sure a must have among other moms and I just knew it was something I had to add to my registry. The thing is, there are so many variations of the "swaddle" out there it took me a bit to figure out which one I felt would be the most effective for my baby and I. In the end, I went with the traditional 47X47 cloth fabric that I could wrap myself. Not only will it be just another blanket but I can use it so many other ways as well. However, I was not so found of the price of some of the main stream brands being $50 for a set of four blankets (nope!) I happened to find some cute ones for about $9.00 on Amazon that I purchased for my son that I loved just as much and it didn't break the bank. It's made of the same material and just as cute!

4. The First Years Bottle Warmer- A bottle warmer is totally not a necessity but I do see this making my life a whole lot easier. Since I do plan on exclusively pumping for my baby once we're home from the hospital, I can foresee most of his feedings being in a bottle of already pumped breast milk. I went with simple Parent's Choice baby bottles from Walmart and felt like the first years bottle warmer seemed to be a good fit with them. Priced at $16.00 it was SUPER cost effective for me and the good news is that not only can you use it to warm your bottles but it can also warm your baby food when your little one starts to move on to solids. Y'all know how I like win-win products and this one is definitely one of them.

5. Little Remedies New Baby Essentials Kit-  My last item is an awesome health kit by "Little Remedies" that provides all of the essential medicines baby may need for $20.00.  I ordered mines from Amazon, but I found that Walmart has an even better price for it! This kit comes with an infant pain and fever reducer, natural cough syrup, saline spray, gripe water, gas relief drops and a nasal aspirator. As well as an adorable pouch to put everything in. This assortment of medicines are great for all the stages of baby's first year and is much more cost efficient than buying each bottle of medicine individually. Little Remedies is a great brand that makes products filled with "everything they need and nothing they don't". I'm definitely a fan and I'm sure my baby will be as well.
